Todd P’Pool is a native of Madisonville, Kentucky and currently serves as the Hopkins County Attorney. His father and grandfather were coalminers and his paternal grandfather was a tobacco farmer. Todd is the first person in the history of his family to graduate from college and is the founding partner of P’Pool & Riddle PLLC.
He is a 1995 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Business and Economics and a 1999 graduate of the U.K. College of Law. He also holds an Associates Degree with distinction in General Science from Madisonville Community College where he served as an adjunct faculty member for five (5) years.
Todd P’Pool is an accomplished prosecutor where he oversees the prosecution of approximately 10,000 cases per year and an additional 5,000 active child support files. He has received the Kentucky Outstanding Performance Award for five (5) consecutive years for his successful recovery of child support. He led the agency from a ranking of 99th to a consistent top 10 performer during his term in office.
Todd has been appointed over a dozen times by the Kentucky Attorney General to serve as a special prosecutor throughout Kentucky, including cases involving the prosecution of elected officials, lawyers and police officers. During his public service, Todd P’Pool has been endorsed by the Kentucky Fraternal Order of Police, Kentucky Right to Life and Alliance Coal Company. His office has been featured on CNN and he has a reputation for the relentless prosecution of cybercriminals and sexual predators.
In 2006, Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher (R) appointed Todd to serve on the Kentucky Juvenile Justice Advisory Board and the Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice. Through his service on these committees, Todd was charged with advising the President of the United States and Congress on current juvenile justice issues facing our communities. In 2008, Governor Steve Beshear (D) re-appointed Todd to continue this important project in Washington D.C. Todd has a proven record of bipartisanship when it comes to protecting our families and our future.
Todd believes in the power of faith-based programs to address the drug epidemic. He was the founding President of Western Kentucky Teen Challenge, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides faith-based recovery for those struggling with drug addiction and other life controlling problems. He oversaw the $2.1 million construction of Wingshadow Lodge for 60 residential beds – at no cost to the taxpayers. In 2008, he was elected to the national board of Teen Challenge International, Inc.
He married his high school sweetheart, Shannon Badgett, of Madisonville and they are the proud parents of three beautiful daughters. (Morgan, Katie and Mollie) Todd teaches Sunday school at Victory Church in Madisonville, Kentucky and Shannon is active in the music ministry.
Todd is an Eagle Scout, licensed private pilot and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoys reading, hunting, fishing and golfing.
